There's little you can do with Str that you can't do with Dex, and Dex gives you significantly more benefits. However, in 5E, Str has become significantly less impressive. (I actually didn't think so, but I was in the minority.) In 3x, Str was considered such an important stat, half-orcs' a +2 Str bonus was worth taking a -2 penalty to both Int and Cha. In AD&D 2E, you even got a percentile for it. In previous editions, Strength was a great stat, especially for warriors.
